To register a Mercedes automatic transmission, you must follow the following procedure:

Materials:

*Mercedes car with automatic transmission
* Diagnostic scanner (recommended to use Mercedes-Benz Xentry dealer tool)
* Special adapter for registering an automatic transmission

Steps:

1. Connect the diagnostic scanner to the vehicle. Make sure all electrical systems in the vehicle are turned off.
2. Launch the diagnostic scanner. Select the appropriate software for the make and model of your Mercedes.
3. Go to the transmission control module. Find the section related to the automatic transmission in the diagnostic scanner menu.
4. Select the “Register automatic transmission” function. This feature may be called differently depending on your vehicle model and diagnostic scan tool.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions. The diagnostic scanner will guide you through the prescribing process.
6. Connect the adapter for registering the automatic transmission to the vehicle diagnostic port. The adapter usually comes with a diagnostic scanner.
7. Turn on the car’s ignition. Do not start the engine.
8. Start the prescribing process using the diagnostic scanner. The scanner will begin transmitting data to the adapter, which will program the automatic transmission.
9. Wait for the process to complete. The registration time may vary depending on the car model and automatic transmission.
10. Turn off the ignition. Disconnect the diagnostic scanner and adapter.
11. Start the engine. Check that the automatic transmission is operating correctly. Shift gears to ensure smooth shifting.

Notes:

* Automatic transmission registration is usually required after repairing or replacing the transmission.
